Marathon Conclusion

Done. Ran. Then why this deeper need to go farther and longer…The hope of another finish line to cross, that’s what it is. Riding the waves to find the sweet sensation of what it feels like to finish, be done. Do we ever get that kind conclusion? Time supplies more to do, but when you cross the line, for that moment, you’re done…

Leave it be, soak up the pain, anguish in the memory, the line, for now, is crossed. We were all once a child when the day would seem to linger and time would creep through endless backyard surprises. Pretend, close your eyes, you belong to that moment when childhood fears of day closing, bedtime, and the end of our sensational adventure would bring tears. Finishing a marathon isn’t far from the end of your favorite childhood day. Maybe a carnival or summer picnic party, whatever the moment, when it was over we use to cry…Mixed emotions of whether to relish in the runaway moments or fight the passing of time. It was just so hard. As we grew, time got easier, life logically began to made more sense. The day’s break was less of a shock, just not as dramatic, simply a constant reminder of how little we feel we accomplish in a 24 hour period, never enough.

When did we switch over, when did we first say, “Time just flies!” The list get too long, life goes too quickly. So how do we preserve the moment? Run, run as fast as you can, fight the clock, beat the time, cross the line! No more twinkle toes, peter pans, lost ways, run, find your time, put your feet on the ground, and we best be moving on…
